Banoffee

Banoffee's invention is claimed by Nigel Mackenzie and Ian Dowding, owner and chef respectively of an East Sussex restaurant.

It was in 1971 when Mackenzie, after modifying a not-so-good American recipe for “Blum’s Coffee Toffee Pie”, proposed combining sugary milk with banana. It was the “Banoffi Pie” dish that proved so popular with their customers that they couldn’t get it off the menu. Nowadays at Kayak this explosive combination is glorified with a flavour that brings together bananas, crisp biscuits and rich caramel aroma.
